about

i started photography back in the late 2000s, when i took a class in high school. we were lucky enough to still have a darkroom, so i learned to appreciate the smell of fixer on my hands for hours after developing. my first camera was a zenit-e, a brick that i have exceptionally fond memories of. the photos were trash, but the CLUNK of the camera mirror was extremely satisfying.

i did the bathroom darkroom thing for a few years after that, through most of college. nothing remarkable from those years either, but it was fun. post-college, adulthood hit & photography got left behind. i moved around a lot, got married, and struggled to maintain any kind of artistic practice.

in 2024 i decided to pick it back up. i'd been gifted a sony mirrorless camera a few years prior, and that was the gateway drug. i tried to stick to just digital for a while, but the joy of film is too hard to avoid. inevitably i ended up with a bathroom full of developer. sadly i don't have the means (or space) for printing with an enlarger, but scanning film is better than nothing.

also i might use this place for hosting past & current(???) music projects. maybe some illustration & printmaking stuff too, if i ever get back to that. the world is my oyster!
